BATS Scholars

BATS Scholars is the community service program of the Bay Area Tutoring Summit. We provide BATS Scholars with three years of academic and college admission support—from junior year of high school through freshman year of college—including:
  • tutoring across the curriculum as needed
  • standardized test preparation
  • mentoring in executive function, stress reduction, and life planning
  • counseling in college selection, admissions, and financing

Candidates must be current sophomores in high school, and will be assessed in terms of:

Need
We provide top-flight, comprehensive educational support to students who might not otherwise receive it. We encourage those from groups traditionally underrepresented in elite education to apply.

Commitment to Education
Candidates must be committed to high school and college success and willing to receive several hours per week of academic assistance outside of the school day. Families of BATS Scholars support them in these efforts.

Academic Skills
Candidates must already be succeeding in their high school program and be ready to take their intellectual development to the next level.

Character
BATS Scholars contribute to the community through their example and their civic participation.
