Professional Development

At the heart of BATS is our Professional Development program. Our members benefit from a plethora of ongoing opportunities, both formal and informal, to learn from each other and grow as educators. A few of these opportunities include:

  • Three annual General Meetings, which include educational presentations from both current and prospective members.
  • Frequent member-led "Breakout" meetings (see example 2021 schedule below) on a wide range of topics, from changes to the colleges admissions process to marketing and business development.
  • A new series of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) trainings provided by expert Tamisha Williams.
  • A weekly DEI discussion group.
  • Shared Google Drive resource folders for a wide variety of academic subjects and standardized tests.
  • A burgeoning peer-review program through which members can share video clips of their tutoring sessions (with student and family permission, of course)  and obtain constructive feedback.
  • A robust Slack discussion group on a wide variety of education-related topics.
  • A strong network for informal peer-to-peer consultations.

These resources are available to all BATS members, and most meetings are also open to members' invited guests. If you're interested in attending a meeting or learning more about how BATS can help you grow as an education professional, please contact any member or email info@bayareatutoringsummit.com.
